Blue Moon

This is a doodle- the kind where I don't think 'much' about it- it comes partly out of the subconscious? (& oil sticks, and my now stained fingers) straight to wherever.

What would Freud say about the above?
The pen & ink sketch below is something I was going to do for IF topic, 'Discovery' - but ran out of time to do it just as I thought of it. I was thinking to ask, "When is a 'discovery not a 'discovery'? and answer with a favorite quote from Sigmund Freud, " When [sometimes] a cigar is just a cigar."

Here are experiments/discoveries adding color in PS.

Someone locked the moon in the gymnasium. Poor guy. The janitor is out in the hallway though, and just as we see the warm light from the hallway bulb, the janitor will see the cool light come from the gym and rescue Mr. Moon before he's used for dodgeball.
Excellent illo Andy! And your Freud portrait...whoa!

Well I want to see more of your doodles please ;). Beautiful and for me, so sad.

Sigmund too is fabulous. I like him with cigar - and the ps colouring is excellent - I like the bottom one best, on the grey b/g. The softer contrast really works for me.

Andy, your comment on my post choked me up. I never thought of that song, yet it's so perfect! When I originally sat down to do the illustration, I had the seal facing right and just a normal big ol' moon was going to be the back drop. Well, you know me by now and I had to have some drama. A pull at the old heart strings, so I thought of what I ended up drawing. And ironically, I lost my mother too soon yet hadn't thought of that at the moment. I will now though, at every full moon.
And hey, the janitor gave me the all clear. Mr. Moon's good to go :)

For some reason, 'Elvis has left the building' comes to mind as I look at this moon sitting in the empty hall. The offsetting glows and reflections are very cool.

Wonderful Freud dude, too!

The moon piece is very expressive. I can feel the coolness of the night and pull of the moon. Nice piece!

The Freud illo is very good! Your drawing skill is remarkable. I did the one without the blue background, as a first impression.

Peace.
