Geek?

Random firing/ stream of consciousness; geeky? nerdy?:
Jokingly , deprecatingly?, and self-deprecatingly?- started this as an equation: G - B = N ---- where (G is Geek and Gates), (B is Brain), and (N is Nerd and Andy) [they say a nerd is a geek without the brain power]. Seems geek and nerd are derogatory terms. So some people try and hide their intelligence, some try and hide their ignorance- what a world. (I guess a true geek by definition- doesn't care to hide it [their intelligence]). Anyway, some who are intelligent look down on those with less intelligence- and vice versa; why? There's nothing wrong with, and most often no choice in being intelligent or not intelligent, and all the in between. No one asked to be born- don't judge anyone- everyone is who he/she is, I yams who I yams, but are we more than our brains? My brain can't figure out the answer - at least I don't know if it can- guess I have to rely on feeling. What is feeling? Dohh!

I was reminded of the John Lennon line from "Working Class Hero", "They hate you if you're clever and despise a fool.."

Excellent concept and commentary Andy. I agree with not judging folks (even though my post puts down 6 things) it's so unlike me! I was confusing bad taste with geekyness. But who's to say anything is bad taste? I guess it's all a judgement call. I'm one of the biggest geeks out there!

Ha ha! Yeah, the geek, nerd, dweeb, dork thing--those terms all confuse me but I guess there are subtle differences. You did a wonderful job of portraying your thoughts by the way Andy.

Hahaha- thanks Luisa. Beware Hal.
Huggsssss and happy week

Hey mike & Kim Lennon was/is coool!

Thanks MD. Better than some of the other IF words I guess.

Thanks Studio Lolo. I think geekiness is eye of beholder- I guess. Think your post was excellent- judging with a sense of humor.
A lot of people today are afraid to have a sense of humor or to even discuss certain topics.
Everyone's walking around on eggshells- especially in universities in the U.S.- the very place where people should be speaking their minds and having dialogue - perfect ways get educated. I'm sounding geeky again- so I'll shut up.

Hope I don't sound too serious here in post.
I just babble.

Thanks Steve hahaha- oh yeah - forgot about the other words.

Fantastic illustration of the questions and answers you pose. We're more than our brains. What would your work look like without heart, maybe an interesting experiment. Next week no brain just heart or visa versa, ha. You make me think, I may have to start thinking of myself as a geek.

I think main problem with western culture is the focus on the mind/rationality/reason at the expense of the heart/emotion/feeling. Yet weirdly in the UK what Lennon said is true - we hate people who are intelligent ('eggheads', 'nerds', 'geeks') but we also despise those who aren't. Don't know if that makes sense (*what I've said)...anyway, love the concept of this and the singing orange against that blue. Enjoyed your post too.

This is beautiful! I love the shapes and colors (big fan of blue and orange) as well as the "mixed media". I have heard that being a geek is cooler than being a nerd which is better than being a dork. But, like you said, if one has feeling, then all the better ;) I will take a look at the tag and get to it when I have the time. Thanks!

Peaceful feeling...

Love the little synapses and your logical equations make my head spin. Well done.

Oh, and I see you've 'tagged' me. Tis an honor.

Thanks and you make perfect sense Sarah. The west basically labels those who focus on heart/emotion/feeling as kooks or flakes. I guess lots of people fear anything that's different from them- maybe another negative, obsolete product of natural selection; fear of anything foreign may protect people somehow- akin to antibodies in the blood protecting against foreign intruders.

Thanks GZ- hahaha- yeah - geeks are at the top of the chain.
Look forward to seeing your posts or post - or whatever you have time for.
Peaceful feeling to you too.

Thanks Michelle

Thanks Twisselman- concentrate on which direction the spin is- then imagine it all spinning in the opposite direction- it should stop the spins- sometimes worked for me back in the day- but I guess those were different spins..

Twis an honor
