The setting:
"Come on Baby, let's do the twist..."
"Oooh yeah- just like this"
I'm trying not to babble here for a twist. So- I guess here's just pretzels dancing.
I wont be able to eat a pretzel for awhile now- maybe should have had lemon, and lime twist instead.

Wonderful painting, great style with nice saturated colors!
That painting of the bar is just so incredibly poignant. Maybe it's my mood but it feels sad to me. And beautifully painted. I am a fan of the melancholic - Hopper, that's whose work it reminds me of.
And I love the faces on those pretzels.
Thank you so much for your kind words. If I am talented, you surely are too. Not to mention thoughtful and intelligent.
I think I agree - most likely there is a continuum of self awareness, just as there is with other attributes we once thought were the prerogative of humans - tool use, communication etc. Sure you know what I'm talking about so I won't go on (too much) here. Self deception as necessary - it certainly lessens the pain of living with awareness ime, but what if it means losing out on some of the pleasures too?
...and thanks for the link to the book!
Heavens, this is really something! I agree with Bite Your Own Tail that the painting of the bar is a true work of art. There is something so poignant about it. And the pretzel faces...wow! Very weird and interesting.
Superb Andy!!! Makes me want to paint again! Just brilliant.
This is wonderful! Everything is done very subtly and artfully.
Excellent, Andy! Great illo and a wonderful take on this week's theme. Looks like they like twisting ;)

The pretzels look delicious, and they better keep dancing or they're gonna be eatin. I'm too jealous of your lounge painting to comment on it, I'll wait until Christmas.
Great work! The bar piece has some many great, rich colors! Wonderful!
Salty, sassy goodness.
Spent a considerable amount of time just out of college in front of and behind a bar very much like the one you've painted. You've really captured the mood and ambience... Don't want the bartender to turn around... might see myself. Whoa... a Twilight Zone / Night Gallery thing would happen.
Glad I enlarged the pretzels to see their faces.
Thanks Tina
Thanks Sarah- yeah sad bar. I love Hopper.
You are thoughtful and intelligent.
Maybe self deception is product of natural selection- which would then probably mean it is somehow beneficial, and sometimes unavoidable? At least to certain degrees- all boils down to degrees and balance- I'm babbling now- so I'll stop.
Thanks Nancy
Thanks Steve- I'm going to get some pens!

I'm so glad you're okay with being tagged - whenever/however you join in I look forward to finding out some random things...
Self -deception as result of natural selection - now there's a thought. And thank you.
Sarah
Fantastic piece Andy! I agree with the ambience you've created in the bar scene. Magical. Like Twis, I've been on both sides. There's a certain smell bars have that's so nostalgic. Nice twist with the pretzels too. I didn't see that coming!

Andy - thanks so much for that lovely feedback on the poem - I really appreciated it.
As for too long comments - well I am guilty too, when I visit here, anyway! But seriously, I always enjoy reading what you have to say so as far as I'm concerned you could write an essay. Or you could email me if you wanted - it's on my profile.
Looking forward to seeing the drawings.
Sarah
